Farol Discover is a small, Portuguese-run company. The people who plan your trip are the same people who walk the trails, test the routes, and pick up the phone when you're out on the path.
Behind every walk are two layers: a tight core team that runs the operation, and a circle of local guides who lead on the trail in English and German.

The core team
Four of us run the company day to day. Two of us are also out on the trail. All of us are here, in Portugal, for the whole of your trip.
Founder & lead guide
Paulo founded Farol Discover in 2019, after years working in tourism. He plans the routes and leads on the trail, most often on the Rota Vicentina, with a storyteller's feel for the geography, history and language of each place you'll walk.
Operations & Digital Systems
Joana runs the operation behind every trip: planning, booking, supplier coordination and the logistics that make a route run without a hitch. With a background in tourism and hotel management, she also builds and maintains the Farol Discover website.
Reservations, Operations & Ground Support
Rafael is part of the reservations and operations team, coordinating bookings, suppliers and the day-to-day running of each trip. He is also out in the field providing ground support, and guides on the Via Algarviana and the Algarve. His background in sports and performance coaching brings an extra eye for pacing and looking after a group well, day after day.
Operations & Customer Support
Helena looks after our German-speaking guests from the first enquiry through to the day they reach the trail. She handles bookings, questions and the small details in German, so DACH walkers always have someone who speaks their language and knows their trip inside out.
On the trail
Every guided walk is led by a local guide who knows the route by heart. Paulo and Rafael guide many of them, joined in season by a small circle of trusted guides, including our German-speaking specialists.
